Spike Lee is an Academy Award® winner whose remarkable career spans over 30 years and includes such iconic films as She’s Gotta Have It, School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Crooklyn, Clockers, Girl 6, Get on the Bus, He Got Game, Summer of Sam, Bamboozled, 25th Hour, She Hate Me, Inside Man, Miracle at St. Anna, Red Hook Summer, Old Boy, and Chi-Raq. His acclaimed documentaries include If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise and A Huey P. Newton Story. His latest joint, Highest 2 Lowest, premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Lee’s groundbreaking 2018 film BlacKkKlansman earned him an Oscar® for Best Adapted Screenplay. A five-time Oscar nominee, Lee received an Honorary Oscar in 2015 for lifetime achievement. A graduate of Morehouse College and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Lee is a tenured Professor of Film and Artistic Director at NYU. His production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, is based in Da Republic of Brooklyn, NY.
Film Streams is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural environment of the Omaha-Council Bluffs area through the presentation and discussion of film as an art form. Film Streams operates two arthouse cinemas: the Ruth Sokolof Theater in North Downtown Omaha, and the Dundee Theater, currently celebrating its 100th anniversary. More information at FilmStreams.org.
