Conductor Joseph Young joins forces with his brother Robert Young, renowned saxophonist, for a program that explores rich textures and striking innovations. Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun invites the listener into a dreamlike world, full of lush orchestral color and mesmerizing flute solos. Next, Robert Young takes on Connesson’s A Kind of Trane, a contemporary concerto written in homage of Coltrane’s extraordinary musicianship, right on time for the legend’s 100th birthday.
