Omaha Performing Arts celebrates Nebraska's 150th Anniversary through dance September 24

OMAHA, Neb. (July 27, 2017) – Nearly 20 Nebraska dance troupes will come together at Omaha’s Orpheum Theater September 24, 2017 when Omaha Performing Arts presents Nebraska in Motion, a joyous dance event celebrating Nebraska’s 150th anniversary. 

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 28 for the commemorative dance event. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased beginning at 10 a.m. at TicketOmaha.com, by phone at 402.345.0606 or in person at the Ticket Omaha Box Office located inside the Holland Performing Arts Center at 1200 Douglas in downtown Omaha.

This exciting event brings a dozen dance troupes to the Orpheum Theater stage, each presenting original pieces inspired by our state. 

“This event brings dance groups of all ages together to celebrate each group’s perspective on what makes Nebraska special to all of us,” said Omaha Performing Arts Vice President of Programming and Education, Laura Kendall. “As a presenter of world-class talent, Omaha Performing Arts is extremely proud to showcase our state’s local artists in this commemorative event.”

Local Choreographer Kat Fackler will create a special finale piece featuring dancers from each group. The Omaha Area Youth Orchestra will perform the finale music live from “Flyover Country” by University of Nebraska-Lincoln composer Tyler White. White, a professor of composition and conducting at UNL and Director of Orchestras has been named Composer of the Year by the Nebraska Music Teachers Association and won several awards for his compositions.
