OMAHA, Neb. (April 14, 2017) – The first national tour of the completely original new musical Something Rotten! coming to Omaha’s Orpheum Theater will feature Broadway stars Adam Pascal (Shakespeare), Rob McClure (Nick Bottom) and Josh Grisetti (Nigel Bottom), who are reprising their roles for the tour, along with two native Nebraskans – Con O’Shea-Creal, Lincoln, and Daniel Beeman, Bellevue, members of the ensemble who also understudy Pascal and McClure’s roles, respectively.
Something Rotten! runs Tuesday, May 16 through Sunday, May 21 as part of Omaha Performing Arts’ Broadway Series. Tickets, starting at $35 are available at the Ticket Omaha Box Office located inside the Holland Performing Arts Center, 1200 Douglas Street, by calling (402) 345-0606 or online at TicketOmaha.com.
The Broadway production received ten 2015 Tony Award® nominations, including best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Direction and Best Choreography.
The hilarious comedy is directed and choreographed by Tony Award® winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award® winner and Tony Award nominee Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award® and Tony Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Tony Award nominees Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O’Farrell.
From the director of Aladdin and co-director of The Book of Mormon and the producer of Rent, Avenue Q and In the Heights, this hilarious new musical comedy tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world's very first MUSICAL!
With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, Something Rotten! is an uproarious dose of pure Broadway fun and an irresistible ode to musicals — those dazzling creations that entertain us, inspire us, and remind us that everything’s better with an exclamation point!
(all performances are in the Orpheum Theater’s Slosburg Hall):
