Wildly popular Jazz at Lincoln Center program comes to Omaha
OMAHA, NEBRASKA – (August 1, 2016) – Omaha Performing Arts is now registering 3-to-5-year olds for the nationally acclaimed early-childhood jazz WeBop® program. Classes begin September 6 and run Tuesdays and Saturdays for eight weeks at the Holland Performing Arts Center, 1200 Douglas Street.
Omaha Performing Arts is one of only four organizations in the nation presenting WeBop®, developed by Jazz at Lincoln Center and produced in collaboration with Columbia University. Trained instructors guide participants through an experience previously only available in major cities, like New York, Chicago and St. Louis. The sessions offer youngsters and their parents an interactive creative outlet to explore jazz together through movement, songs, storytelling, and play.
The weekly 45-minute classes are taught in the Cassling Education Studio at the Holland Center. Parents can choose a Tuesday evening class or pick between two time slots on Saturday mornings.
“The WeBop® program is a wonderful interactive introduction to jazz and will be a hit with everyone,” said Joan Squires, president of Omaha Performing Arts. “We appreciate the confidence the Jazz at Lincoln Center staff has in us and are grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate Omaha Performing Arts’ commitment to the community through programs such as this.”
Parents and guardians are required to participate. WeBop® is not a drop-off program. Registration is $200 per child, including up to two parents or guardians. Discounts are available for additional children. Space is limited. Find more information and register at ticketomaha.com.
