The classic musical comes to the Big Screen
OMAHA, Neb. (July 11, 2016) – A new summer movie series launches at the Orpheum Theater when Omaha Performing Arts presents Cox Sing-Along-a [sic] Sound of Music.
The Tuesday, July 19th event starts at 6:45 p.m. with a costume contest followed at 7:00 p.m. with the award-winning movie, all sponsored by Cox Communications. Tickets are $5 for children 12 and under and $10 for adults. They are available on line at TicketOmaha.com, by calling 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Box Office or inside the Holland Performing Arts Center, 12th and Douglas.

The Cox Sing-a-Long-a Movies: The Sound of Music
will present the classic film in glorious Technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the entire audience can sing along.
The evening starts with a costume contest. Everyone who arrives in costume (it’s optional) will line up at 6:45 p.m. They will parade across the Orpheum stage at 6:50 p.m. to show off their fantastic tailoring skills and vie for prizes. they’ve seen girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes; a lonely goatherd; a man in a gold lycra cat suit (Ray, a Drop of Golden Sun); a man dressed in work overalls and a tool belt (Chris the Plumber) and many more.
The fun-filled shows include warm up exercises led by the evening’s host, Bill Grennan, local radio personality and actor, who will take the audience through complimentary “Magic Moments Fun Packs,” containing various props to be used at strategic points throughout the film. There will also be a Trivia contest for everyone with prize winners announced at intermission.
The Cox Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music
runs 3 hours and 50 minutes with an intermission. The next sing-a-long movie will be Grease
, Tuesday, August 2 at the Orpheum. There will be a separate costume and trivia contests and prizes for Grease
