SARAH KIRKLAND SNIDER: Something for the Dark
JENNIFER HIGDON: Concerto 4-3 RACHMANINOFF: Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27
The innovative and the iconic meet in this program of three wildly different but dynamic works. We celebrate the Maestro’s passion for new music and living American composers in the concert’s first half, starting with Sarah Kirkland Snider’s celebration of resilience, Something for the Dark. The genre-bending trio Time For Three joins for Jennifer Higdon’s Concerto 4-3 for two violins, double bass, and orchestra, giving us a classical concerto with a bluegrass bent. We finish with Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E Minor, a monumental and triumphant work that marked a turning point in the composer’s career and remains a cornerstone of his legacy.
