Omaha Performing Arts Between the Lines with Molly Shannon and Susan Orlean 10th annual fundraiser for Omaha Public Library Holland Performing Arts Center

“Saturday Night Live” alum Molly Shannon and author Susan Orlean will headline the 10th annual Between the Lines fundraiser for Omaha Public Library. Hosted by the Omaha Public Library Foundation, the Tuesday, September 26, fundraiser will also feature a book signing by Shannon and Orlean.

Hear from author/comedian/actress Molly Shannon and author Susan Orlean the evening of Tuesday, September 26, at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

Hosted by the Omaha Public Library Foundation, the 10th annual Between the Lines fundraiser will feature a conversation between Shannon and Orlean about the importance of public libraries and the varied, vital roles they play in our communities. Both will also discuss their favorite library memories and their work as published authors – most likely with a dash of humor.

Shannon’s mother was a school librarian. In 2022, Shannon served as honorary chair of National Library Week. Both Shannon and Orlean grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Shannon’s New York Times best-selling memoir “Hello, Molly!” was released by HarperCollins in 2022. Witty, winning, and told with tremendous energy and heart, “Hello Molly!” sheds new and revelatory light on the life and work of one of our most talented and free-spirited performers.

In her 2018 book “The Library Book,” Orlean re-opens the unsolved mystery of the most catastrophic library fire in American history, and delivers a dazzling homage to a beloved institution – our libraries.

The fundraiser will also feature the presentation of the 2023 Barbara Bock-Mavis Leadership Award. The annual award recognizes longtime service from an Omaha Public Library Foundation volunteer.

Cocktails, heavy appetizers, and dessert will be served to both patron and general admission guests. Patron guests receive access to a private reception and reserved seating. Virtual tickets are available for purchase, as well.

This is a facility rental event presented by an independent organization separate from Omaha Performing Arts (O-pa).

O-pa is committed to its core values of Team, Inclusion, Trust, and Integrity, including diversity and freedom of thought and expression.
