Donning our gay apparel and sprinkling musical sparkle is a 40-year tradition for the River City Mixed Chorus, who performed their first holiday show in 1984 at The Max in downtown Omaha. This year is no different as more than 140 singers take stage to perform 40 Years of Fa La La. This much anticipated annual holiday show features RCMC’s unique blend of delightful harmonies and choreographed shenanigans as they present new favorites, such as Jacob Kraus’ Lights in the Window and Dolly Parton’s Hard Candy Christmas, and old classics, including Kay Thompson’s Jingle Bells and Ryan Murphy’s arrangement of Ding Dong Merrily On High. Expect the quiet joy of a cappella carols and the exuberant rush of trumpets and timpani as RCMC presents a choral masterwork from acclaimed composer, John Rutter. Rutter’s Gloria, originally commissioned for an Omaha-based choir in 1974, is accompanied by organ, a seven piece brass ensemble and percussion.

Also in keeping with tradition, Santa Claus will also be making an appearance at the concert and will be available for photos in the lobby before and after the performance. This Sparklejollytwinklejingley evening is one you and the entire family will long remember. Come help us celebrate 40 years, and fa-la-la into your holiday season with joy, love, and music!
